Animalia започва като случаен разговор между двамата автори - илюстраторът Милена Радева и скулпторът Илия Бояров, търсещи на пръв поглед несъществуващата връзка между илюстрацията и скулптурата. Animalia – научна илюстрация и скулпура, обаче доказва, че тази неочакваната колаборация е възможна. Представяйки за пръв път в България подобна идея, изложбата разглежда под лупа, в буквален и преносен смисъл, познатите по нашите географски ширини животни и приказни герои – лисицата, кафявата мечка, кучето, калинката, малкото пате... Илюстрациите са създадени с научна прецизност, а скулптурите изненадват с миниатюрни детайли. Изложбата е необичайна, привлича с реалистичността си в съчетание с артистично майсторство и представлява интерес за широк кръг зрители.

The idea of Animalia sprang accidentally during a casual conversation between the two authors the illustrator Milena Radeva and the sculptor Ilia Boyarov, who were trying to find out the seemingly nonexistent connection between illustration and sculpture. However Animalia – the joint effort to combine the scientific illustration and sculpture proves that this unusual collaboration is possible. The exhibition which for a first time introduces this idea in Bulgarian artistic life, views under a magnifying glass, literally and metaphorically, the animals and fairytale characters well-familiar in this part of the world – the fox, the brown-bear, the dog, the ladybird, the duckling. The illustrations are created with a scientific precision and the sculptures surprise us with their minute details. The exhibition is really out of the ordinary. It attracts the public with the combination of realistic interpretation and high artistic values and is of interest to the general public.

„Смятаме, че в днешния дигитален свят ръчнорисуваните реалистични рисунки ще  върнат удоволствието от чистото възприятие на красотата около нас” - споделя мотивите за изложбата Милена Радева, автор на илюстрациите. „А всички скулптури са в бронз - при моделирането на миниатюрните детайли не са използвани никакви високотехнологични средства” - разказва скулпторът Илия Бояров. Съвместната им изложба представя връзката между акварела (научна илюстрация) и бронза (малка пластика). Озаглавена Animalia в нея се открива на пръв поглед странната връзка между илюстрацията в по-голям от стандартния размер и реалистична скулптура в малък мащаб, а всеки посетител открива нещо специално за себе си.

“We believe that in the modern digital world the hand-drawn realistic picture will bring back the pleasure of experiencing beauty as a pure sensation.” – Milena Radeva author of the illustrations shares her motives. “All sculptures are made of bronze – no high-tech devices were used of the modeling of the exhibits” says the sculptor Ilia Boytarov. The exhibition of the two authors shows the link of aquarelle (scientific illustration) and bronze (easel sculpture). Even at first sight the exhibition shows the peculiar connection between the wide scaled illustration and the small scaled realistic sculptures and every visitor finds something on his own.

 

 

И в двете изразни средства освен ясните и характерни черти и форми, силует и линия се търсят и интересният ракурс, гледна точка и състояние на животните. Спускащото се към водата земеродно рибарче или тичащият заек създават усещане за динамика не само чрез петното на четката, но и чрез точния момент на кадъра. А ръмжащата кафява мечка или мирно стоящата немска овчарка всяват респект и въздействат монументално, въпреки миниатюрния размер на пластиката. В изложбата са включени 25 научни илюстрации и 22 скулптури, представящи редица познати на публиката, но представени по непознат начин животни – лисица, синигер, пор, язовец, прасе, кон, бик, котка и други. В научната илюстрация е използвана класическата техника на акварела „мокро в мокро” както и качествата на естествените материали на катеричата четка и силният пигмент на боята. Тези средства не позволяват грешки по време на работа и предполагат изключителна точност и умение на ръката на художника. При малката пластика са използвани традиционните похвати на калъпите и утвърдилите се с хилядолетия техники в металопластиката. При моделирането не се използват високотехнологични средства, а само и единствено уменията на скулптора като автор.

In the two types of exhibits the focus is not only on the characteristic features and forms silhouette and lines, but also on the uncommon foreshortening, the point of view and the individuality of the animals. The descending flight of the Kingfisher and the running Hare, give the impression of dynamics not only because of the flourish of the brush, but also by the precise moment caught by the author. The roaring brow bear and the obedient German shepherd, fill us with respect as if they were monumental figures and not creatures depicted in the dimensions of the easel sculpture. 25 scientific illustrations and 22 sculptures are included in the exhibition, all of them presenting to the public familiar animals in an unfamiliar way – fox, great-tit, ferret, badger, pig, horse, bull, cat and many others. The scientific illustrations use the classical technique of watercolour “wet-on-wet”, as well of the characteristics of the sable-brush and the bright pigment of the aquarelle. This technique allows no mistakes and demands exquisite precision and dexterity on the part of the artist. The easel sculpture uses the techniques of moulding and traditional techniques used in metal sculpture over the centuries. No high-tech devices have been used in the process of sculpting. The exhibits are entire results of the craftsmanship and dexterity of the author.
